I knew I wanted it to be full of all of those good fall flavors. So, here is a recipe for fall apple butter that is chock full of your favorite fall spices! Perfect on a warm biscuit or a slice of any homemade sweet breads - oh the possibilities are endless with this delicious apple butter!
As an added bonus, your house will smell amazing all day long!!
Ingredients
- About 16 apples (I used 8 Cortland and 8 Honey Crisp)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1T Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Allspice
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Pinch of clove
- 1/2 tsp. Lemon Juice
- 1T Vanilla
Directions
- Peel apples and cut them up into small pieces (place in crockpot)
- Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine
- Cook on low 10 hours
- Remove lid, stir, and cook an additional 1.5 to 2 hours to thicken by cooking off the juice of the apples
- Pour into a bowl and mix with blender to get rid of the rest of the chunks of apple
- Cool
Notes- Store in air tight container in fridge for up to three weeks
- Freezes well for up to 1 year
- If frozen best to thaw in the fridge
