Some Bunny Loves You Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern - Free Crochet Pattern

YAY! A new free pattern is here! I have never shared a baby blanket pattern for free before, and I thought now was a great time to share one!

This blanket works up quickly and has a lot of fabulous details to it! The amazing trim really pops with both the stitching and the ribbon! It is nice and heavy too, so it is perfect for keeping baby warm. I also love
there are few holes in the main part of the blanket for them to get their little fingers and toes in!

The applique is just too precious with the big bunny holding the little bunny's hand while they share a carrot! I love the sweet little tails too!

Materials

For the Blanket
H (5mm) crochet hook
Worsted Weight – (4W (weight))

• Color A - 10oz
• Color B - 8oz
• 3/8 in X 19 ft ribbon
For the Applique
G (4mm) crochet hook
Worsted Yarn – (4W)

• Bunny Color - 2oz
• Orange - >1oz
• Green - >1oz
.5 -1 inch pompoms (you can either make it from yarn or use a store bought one)

Gauge

12 dc and 7 rows = 4” square; use a different size hook or yarn to obtain proper gauge

Finished Size

34 inches wide by 36 inches long

Notes

• For the Applique
• I make all the pieces then put the pieces altogether at the end
• When attaching the applique to the blanket use the front loops of the stitches on the blanket to secure. This will prevent the stitches from being seen on the back of the blanket.

Instructions for Blanket

With Color A and H hook

Row 1 – (Right Side) – Ch 123, 2dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, (ch 2 counts as 1dc). Sk 2 chs, sc in next ch, *skip 2 chs, 5sc in next ch, sk 2 chs, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across to last 3 chs. Skip 2 chs, 3dc in last ch. Turn, FO Color A, Join Color B. (19 5-dc shells, 2 3dc shells, 20 sc)>br />
Row 2 – Ch 1, sc in first dc. *Ch2, dc5tog over next 5 sts, ch2, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across to the end and work a sc in turning ch. Turn, FO Color B, Join Color A. (21sc, 20shells)

Row 3 – Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2dc in first sc, sk 2 chs. *sc in top of next fan, sk 2 chs, 5dc in next sc, sk 2 chs. Repeat from * to last fan, Sc on top of the fan, sk 2 chs, 3dc in last sc. Turn, FO Color A, Join Color B. (19 5-dc shells, 2 3dc shells, 20 sc)

Rows (4 – 61) – Repeat rows 2 and 3.

Border

Rnd 1 – Sc evenly around with 3sc in ea corner. Join with a sl st in first sc.

Rnd 2 – Ch 5 (first 3 chs are first dc, last 2 chs are the ch 2). Sk 2 sc, dc in next sc. *(Ch 2, sk 2 sc), dc in next sc.* Repeat from * to * around the blanket, with a ch 3, sk 2 on corners. At the end of this round ch 2, sk 2 sc, then sl st into the 3rd ch.

Rnd 3 – Ch 1, sc in dc and in each chain, with 3 sc in each corner. Join with a sl st into first sc.

Rnd 4 – Ch 1, sc in first sc *ch 3, 2dc cl in side of last sc worked, sk 2 sc, sc in next st. Repeat from * around blanket. Join with a sl st into first sc. FO weave in ends.

SMALL BUNNY (all in bunny color)

Head

Rnd 1 – 8hdc in magic ring, join with a sl st in first hdc, ch 1 (8hdc)

Rnd 2 – 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc, FO (16hdc)

Body

Rnd 1 – 8hdc in magic ring, join with a sl st in first hdc, ch 1 (8hdc)

Rnd 2 – 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc, ch 1 (16hdc)

Rnd 3 – hdc, 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc. FO leaving a long tail (about 18 inches) for attaching head, and to attach finished bunny to blanket.

Arm and Ear x3

Rnd 1 – Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next ch. Hdc in next 2 chs, 5dc in last ch.

Now working on opposite side of chain. Hdc in next 2 chs, sc in last 2 chs. FO – leave a long tail to attach to body.

LARGE BUNNY (all in bunny color)

Head

Rnd 1 – 8hdc in magic ring, join with asl st in first hdc, ch 1 (8hdc)

Rnd 2 – 2hdc around, join with a sl st infirst hdc. (16hdc)

Rnd 3 – hdc, 2hdc around, join with a slst in first hdc. FO (24hdc)

Body

Rnd 1 – 8hdc in magic ring, join with a sl st in first hdc, ch 1 (8hdc)

Rnd 2 – 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc, ch 1 (16hdc)

Rnd 3 – hdc, 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc. (24hdc)

Rnd 4 – hdc in 2, 2hdc around, join with a sl st in first hdc.

FO leaving a long tail (about 18 inches) for attaching head, and to attach finished bunny to blanket.

No chaining before turning.

Row 1 – Ch 5, sc in 2nd from hook and next 3 chs, turn.

Row 2 – sc across, turn.

Row 3 – sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, turn

Row 4 – sc across, turn

Row 5 – sc2tog, sc, turn

Row 6 – sc across, turn

Row 7 – sc2tog

FO, leave an 8in tail to attach to blanket

HEART TOP (green)

In a magic circle ch 1, sc 2 times, hdc, dc 2 times, ch 2 sl st into ring, ch 2, dc 2 times, hdc, sc 2 times. Join with a sl st into first sc.

FO, leaving an 8” tail for sewing onto blanket.

Assembly

1. Weave in any tails of yarn that won’t be used for sewing.
2. For both bunnies, slightly overlap the head on the body. Sew into place. Leave the tail alone here. You will use it to fasten rabbit to blanket.
3. For both bunnies, attach both ears to top of the head. FO, weave in ends.
4. For both bunnies, attach both tails to the bottom of the body of the bunnies.
5. Sew the small bunny’s arm on the right.
6. Sew the large bunny’s arm on the left.
7. Sew the carrot heart top onto the carrot, leave tail alone here as well. You will use it to fasten the rabbit to blanket.
8. Pin the pieces onto your blanket in your desired location with the bunnies both holding the carrot as pictured on the cover.
9. Once pinned in place, use the left-over tails to sew the pieces in place.
10. Weave in any remaining ends.
11. Now using your ribbon, weave through round two of blanket trim.
12. Form your bow in the corner
